Enjoy a leisurely, flat, family-friendly stroll through exotic and colorful habitats, gardens and exhibits. Home to more than 400 animals and 120 species including guest favorites: lions, playful otters and penguins. Establish in 1934, the Pueblo Zoo features some of the best examples of historic WPA/CC architecture. The Zoo is managed by the Pueblo Zoological Society and accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

Garden Park Fossil Area
Garden Park Fossil Area
Fossils of well-known species of large dinosaurs have been discovered at this site over the last 120 years. Many of the dinosaur fossils discovered at this site are on exhibit at museums around the country, including the Denver Museum of Natural History, and the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. Fossils of two-legged, plant-eating dinosaurs, dinosaur eggs, and dinosaur tracks have also been discovered in the Garden Park Fossil Area. In addition to dinosaur bones, Garden Park contains 2 significant, rare plant species, Brandegee wild buckwheat and inch milkweed. Garden Park is a BLM Area of Critical Environmental Concern, a Colorado Research Natural Area, and a National Natural Landmark. For more information, please contact the Royal Gorge Field Office.
Picket Wire Canyonlands

The dinosaur tracks are located in the Purgatoire Valley, called Rio de las Animas Perdidas en Purgatorio or River of Lost Souls. The site of the trackway is named Picket Wire Canyonlands and extends 1/4 of a mile. It is North Americas largest tracksite containing over 1,300 footprints in four different layers of rock.
